It is based on a group of historical characters and is set in the 17th century in both Devon as well as Somerset. Richard Doddridge Blackmore (1825-1900) was an English novelist who is sometimes referred to as the 'Last Victorian&apos. This is one of his most popular works. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, sound. A few marks with some fading to the boards, as well as some edge wear to the extremities and particularly to the spine. Hinges are very tender, with a tape reinforcement to the front hinge that is detaching from the front endpaper. Internally, strained binding in some places resulting in certain pages detaching from the binding. Pages are bright and generally clean, with some spotting. Plates are bright and clean. Good Only .
