Blackmore, which is set around the village of Beckley and follows the life adventures of a girl named Grace Oglander. This is the 1890 'New and Cheaper Edition' of this work. Richard Doddridge Blackmore (1825-1900), sometimes known as the 'Last Victorian', was one of the most famous English novelists of the second half of the nineteenth century. He is best known for his work titled 'Lorna Doone', which remains in print, while most of his other works have not. One page of publisher's adverts to the rear. Collated, complete. Bound in half-calf on marbled boards. Externally, sound. A few marks to the boards with some discolouration to the margins of the leather binding. Rubbing along the extremities, as well as along the raised bands of the joints. Edge wear to the head and tail of spine, which has resulted in a bit of loss. Prior owner's illustrated bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
