The present volume was acquired from the sale of his library. The inscription reads: 'To Paul Gallico - who has captured in words better than has anyone else this mystical ride of cockpit flight as it was and will never be again. I have acknowledged you on page 12. This personal way carries my respect, admiration, and warmest best wishes.' Dated 1959-60.With the unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's half cloth binding with a front paper covered board. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only and minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper, addressed to Paul Gallico and signed. The dust wrapper is sound with some shelf wear and sunning to the spine, minor soiling to the wraps, some chipping and the occasional closed tear. Internally, firmly bound.
