Batty was an army officer, who was wounded at the Battle of Waterloo, and later in his life published an illustrated account of his experiences in the battle. He travelled a lot, to France, Germany, and Belgium, drawing as he went, published numerous collections of scenic books. His work was also exhibited at the Royal Academy. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper, 'Isabel S. Gardner, March 1942&apos. In a full morocco binding by Colnaugh. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing to the boards and spine. A little bumping to the extremities. Spine is a little faded. Hinges are starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some odd spots. Very Good . Ill.: Robert Batty.
