Watts', 'Complete Works of Walter Bagehot' and 'Lena's Picture&apos.With a presentation inscription from the author to Marie Corelli, dated 1922. Marie Corelli (1855-1924) was an English novelist whose works were extremely successful during her lifetime, outselling the likes of Arthur Conan Doyle, Rudyard Kipling and H. G. Wells.The art of Sir Frederic Leighton (1830-1896) often depicted scenes of historic, biblical or classical important, and was both extremely popular and expensive during his lifetime. He also bore the shortest-lived peerage in history, dying a day after having been given it with the title becoming extinct upon his death.This is a limited edition, one of only sixty copies, of which this is number four.Collated with seventy illustrations to volume I, and seventy-two to volume II. With both tipped in illustrations and full plates in black and white and colour. In a quarter vellum binding. Externally generally smart, wear to the boards and extremities, a chip to the tail of the spine of Vol I running up the joint, cover of Vol I is a little faded, some scratches to the front board of Vol II. Presentation inscription to the front flyleaf. Pages are uncut, with a number unopened. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean bar the odd spot. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated.
