Rupert Brooke (1887-1915) was an English poet remembered for his war poetry. He was a friend amongst the Bloomsbury group of writers, and was a member of the literary groups the Georgian Poets and the Dymock poets, which included Robert Frost and Edward Thomas as members. His sonnets written during the First World War remain some of the most important examples of Western war poetry, with 'The Soldier' and 'The Dead' being his most well known verses. He tragically perished from sepsis from a mosquito bite whilst sailing with the British Mediterranean Expeditionary Force during the First World War at the age of twenty-seven.This play tells the tale of an impoverished family living in Lithuania visited by a wealthy stranger.Wuth five leaves of publisher's advertisements bound to the rear.
