Description: Anon, Anon, 1863. Paperback. A scarce piece of local history in relation to St Andrew's Hall Norwich. Being a letter from Richard Noverre Bacon to the mayor of Norwich, Henry Staniforth Patteson. Bound in contemporary paper wraps and held in a custom buckram clamshell box.With the bookplate of a local historian Ron Fiske. Fiske was an architectural surveyor who had a passion for local history. An article for the North Norfolk News refers to Fiske as a 'go-to-man for academics and researchers who wanted to know more about Norfolk's past&apos. He and his wife bought Morningthorpe Manor in the 1990s which became home to his vast historical library of over 30,000 books and pamphlets. This work regards a proposal for a new porch to St Andrew's Hall Norwich. It is written to the mayor of Norwich Henry Staniforth Patteson by Richard Noverre Bacon, an English newspaper editor. Bacon was a noted author on agriculture and was an editor of the Norwich Mercury. Bacon is against the proposal for a new porch and refers to it as 'inconsistent' and that it will 'destroy the design of this fine building&apos. The 1997 work 'Norwich and North-East The Buildings of England refers to a 19th century restoration where the south porch was moved from the next bay to the east. This pamphlet may well refer to this restoration. There are limited resources regarding this restoration. An interesting piece of local history. In later paper wraps. Externally, very smart. Light marks to the wraps. Small hole to the rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with occasional scattered spots. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: None. Very Good Indeed .
