The second edition of this work, which has been bound together in a beautiful half morocco binding. Lady Anne Blunt founded the Crabbet Arabian Stud, and they were noted for buying Arabian horses from Bedouin tribesmen and the Egyptian Ali Pasha Sheriff during their travels. This work recounts Lady Blunt's extensive travels in the Middle East and is based on her own journals. She is particularly noted to be the first European woman to ride through the Arabian desert. The folding map, which would have originally been present in a pocket in the binding, is loosely inserted. Illustrated, with a frontispiece, six plates, ten vignettes and the folding map. Collated, complete. With a preface by Lady Anne's husband, the poet and author Wilfrid Scawen Blunt. A beautiful copy of this travel work, which followed from Lady Blunt's preceding travel work 'Bedouin Tribes of the Euphrates&apos. In this writing Lady Blunt touches on horses, camels, the life of important figures, life in the desert and much more. In a half morocco binding with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just the odd scattered spots. Loosely inserted map is spotted to the rear due to paper used. Near Fine .
