Ayton was a dramatist and writer who went on a voyage around Britain, during which he was nearly shipwrecked and was so badly injured that he was confined to bed for more than a year. These essays were mostly written during the last eighteen months of his life. With a short memoir of the author's life. In a quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, with some loss to the front board. A little loss to the spine label. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Minor marks to the boards. Prior owner's pencil inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd scattered spot. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
