The three volumes are titled as follows: The Eighteenth Century, The Romantic Period and The Victorian Period. A notable art historian, Martin Hardie served as the Keeper of the Departments of Painting and of Prints and Drawings at the world renowned Victoria and Albert Museum for over 10 years. With a keen interest in watercolour painting Hardie created this extensive work dating from the 18th century through to the Victorian era of the 19th century. Each volume is held in a price-clipped dustwrapper, and the original slipcase. The volumes are profusely illustrated throughout. Each volume is bound in a full cloth binding, and are held in the original price-clipped dustwrappers, and original slipcases. Externally excellent, with only some very minor shelf wear. Dustwrapper are generally smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in several closed tears to the head, each less than 0.5cm. Patches of rubbing to the joints and extremities. Tape repair to the front flyleaf joint of volume III, to the tail. Two small closed tears to the front of the wrap of volume II. The odd spot internally to each wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Patches of rubbing to the extremities of each slipcase, with a tap repair to the head of the front board of the slipcase of volume III, with a small amount of loss to the tail. Overall the slipcases are very good. Fine . Ill.: Various. Fine/Near Fine.
