Providence, RI Cory, Marshall and Hammond, 1830. 12mo (8" x 4.5"), Hard Cover, Fair to Good. Stories of life at sea during the early 19th century, by the son of American statesman Fisher Ames. Hard to find title, this copy with an errata slip tipped in at the rear and a folding map entitled "Chart of the Atlantic Ocean" mounted to the rear cover (the map does not appear to relate to the narrative). Original boards with paper spine label, untrimmed margins, 312 pages. Substantial external wear, but covers still attached. Newer endpapers (probably early 20th century), title page detached, many pages foxed and/or age-toned, numerous closed tears that are mainly confined to the margins, a few small margin chips. All pages present from title page through the final page of text. A worn but decent copy overall. Scarce.
