[BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS], The City of Boston; Its Steam Interests and Leading Engineers
Boston Historical Publishing Co., 1886. First Edition. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall, Hard Cover, Very Good. History of the use of steam engines and steam boilers in the City of Boston, the purposes including manufacturing, steam locomotives, steam fire engines and more. Includes short biographies of prominent engineers involved in steam applications and illustrations of various innovations, such as a full page plate of a steam powered fire engine. Reddish brown cloth printed in black, 272 pages. Some light external wear, mainly a bit of rubbing to the corners and spine ends, and some uneven coloration to the fornt cover (see image provided). Hinges good, binding firm, pages clean with a name on the front free endpaper and a dampstain to the center of the top margin that runs for about fifty pages toward the middle of the book (it only touches the text for a few pages, and does not affect readability). A sound and attractive copy overall.
