Description: Pine Mountain, Kentucky, 1939. 1939, 1st Edition. Hardcover with dust jacket. First Edition. Hardback, quarto, pp [x], 87, [iii], VG+ to Near Fine in Fair to Poor dj (dj now in clear protective mylar). Snug binding, hinges intact, corners and spine ends small bumps and a little rubbing, original cloth covers are clean, interior pretty much immaculate. DJ generally/mostly clean, front panel represents well but dj separates into 2 pieces along front panel spine fold + only top 4 inches of spine is extant (showing only "At Home In Th") & appx 2x4 inch chip missing top corner unprinted back panel. SIGNED by artist on the front free endpaper: "John A. Spelman III". Limited edition, numbering statement left blank on this copy. Spelman's father was an artist and a native of Minnesota who moved the family to the Chicago, Illinois area. Both father & son are buried in Cook County, Minnesota near the family's northwoods cabin. Near Fine/Fair. Signed by Author.
