Includes two-page entries for all 23 feature films in competition, which that year included: Jane Campion's THE PIANO (which went on to win the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award), Kenneth Branagh's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, Mike Leigh's NAKED, and Wim Wenders's IN WEITER FERNE, SO NAH! [later released in the U.S. as FARAWAY, SO CLOSE!]. 22 pages are devoted to the retrospective of Italian director Dino Risi, and there is a 12-page section (with some great stills) devoted to a retrospective program entitled "Detective Story." The cover depicts Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman in Alfred Hitchcock's NOTORIOUS. ALSO INCLUDED with the program is the two-volume "Guide Officiel du 46e Festival" (smaller format,6"x9"), containing all the essential information for festival attendees: maps of the city and of the various screening locations; a list of all festival participants; information regarding press credentials; a record of all past festival prize-winners and jury presidents; directories of hotels, restaurants, discotheques and dentists; and much, much more..
