Four vols bound in full calf with dark brown, light brown and elaborate gilt spines with seven raised bands. Vol II has a chip from the brown spine label while vol IV is missing a substantial part of the same label. Vol II is missing the book number label. Text blocks are solid and are gilt all around. Ovrall condition is very nice with hinges sound, gilding bright and only minor shelf rubbing. This is not to be confused with the set of six issued at a later date and eited by Charles Gibbon. Pp 386, 362, 374 and 374. Illustrated frontis's. Light foxing of frontis's. A number of b/w full page plates of different paper from the frontis's are quite clean.
