This was the result of a misbegotten revamping of Scott that drove collectors and investors away from the hobby in hordes. Collectors were used to figuring a percentage of Scott as the real value and had been doing that for decades. When Scott broguht out the new 'ACCURATE" prices buyers still used percentage calculations and drove prices downward drastically. Some Auction houses used 1988 Scott for many years afterwards for auction valuations.
