Great frontispiece with tissue guard: "Gie 'Im a penny plate o' the gude broo" depicting Bobby and a couple of chaps by the fireside. "The story of Greyfriars Bobby--so beloved that the tenement dwellers kept their windows washed that they might see his frolics.." from the dustjacket. With the front panel and flaps of the original dustjacket; and a supplied complete A.L. Burt dustjacket. VG+/VG in woven fine blue-greycloth stamped very brightly in gold and white on the front boards, and in bright gold on the spine. Exceptionally clean and tight throughout with only the faintest touch of rubbing to the extremities. In a supplied A.L. Burt dustjacket which is chipped at the top and bottom of the spine ends. The front panel matches exactly the front panel of the Harper's edition which is laid in, as are the front and rear flaps of the original dustjacket which feature a "Notice: How to Open a Book" (the front flap); and "The Reader's Duty" (the rear flap). A very handsome copy of the book in dustjackets (one supplied); the other only including the front panel and the front and rear flaps.
