First Edition (With 1931 and "A" on copyright page). With a splendid dustjacket by Cleonike. A fascinating book of poetry in which "Aiken describes a typical life out of nothingness into the light of day, and back again." VG-/VG- in blue-green woven cloth stamped in gold with some leaching of color to the edges of the front and rear panels and the spine. (Similar to the way the cloth Hemingway's Green Hills of Africa loses color despite being in jacket.) In a finely-drawn Cleonike jacket depicting Osiris Jones surrounded by beautiful, classical figures. Cleonike also did the dustjackets for Hemingway's AFTA & TSAR. With several chips along the top of the front panel and a small pinky fingernail-sized chip at the bottom of the spine. With darkening and scuffing to the spine and toning to the top and left edge of the rear panel. The inside flap bears original price of $2.00. Offered for US$ 125.00 by: Brainerd F.
