Appears as if very lightly used, or not at all, on the interior. Fold out map of the area attached to front end paper. Extensively illustrated with dozens of b/w photographs. "...compile a history of this community...during which Willow Run Village operated as a federal housing project....will undoubtedly revive memories...for others it will deepen their understanding, to all it will provide an insight into a type of pioneering which existed during and following World War II". The greater, metropolitan Detroit area, including Willow Run was singled out when "Roosevelt referred to Detroit, Michigan as "the great arsenal of democracy" because of the rapid conversion of much of the Detroit-area automotive industry to produce armaments during World War II". B-24 bombers were made at this plant by Ford Motor Company; later Kaiser-Frazier Corp. Built the C-119, aka 'the flying boxcar,' for the US army. Later on General Motors Corp. Made transmissions, and other auto parts there. The plant is permanently closed down, but the airfield remains and is used, to this day. Mostly for air freight, and also to house the Yankee Air Museum, which hosts several, huge air shows every year.
