Genuine Risk (February 15, 1977 – August 18, 2008) was a chestnut filly who won the 1980 Kentucky Derby and was the first filly to ever finish in the money in all three U. S. Triple Crown races, finishing second in the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. Genuine Risk was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1986. Although bred to several champion stallions during her life, she only delivered two surviving foals, Genuine Reward who eventually went to stud. Her remaining colt was eventually gelded and is a show horse.
