Title: La Pratique du Jardinage; ouvrage rédigé après sa mort sur ses memoires, 2 volumes.
Description: Lyon: chez Robert et Gauthier, 1797. First edition. Pp. (vi), 414, (2), 9 folding engraved plates; (iv), 404, 5 folding and engraved plates. Contemporary full tree calf with red morocco title label, 8vo. An early view of agriculture in France and southern Europe - contains treatises on the care of tree wounds, culture of the orange, the cauliflower, the cardoon of Spain, melons, strawberries, culture of the vine and grapes, and the propagating of plants. From the library of Victor du Pont with his bookplate at the beginning of each volume. Laid in at the front of volume one is an eight-page pamphlet by du Pont entitled ""Lettre de Victor du Pont"" published in 1790. The original tree calf is very attractive and shows few signs of use, in both volumes the endpapers are a bit browned, there are some light marginal dampstains to the front section and rear section of volume 2 only affecting the margins of the last two plates. These damp marks are very faint and do affect the text or contents of the plates; a bright very good copy..
