Title: The Bibelot. Volumes 1-21. Testimonial Edition
Description: New York/Portland, Me, William H. Wise/Thomas B. Mosher, Publisher. Hard Cover. 1895-1915 (although perhaps 1925 as that is the date given in the index volume). Light blue paper covered boards with white cloth spines. Number 1385 of a stated 4500 published/bound in this format. Approximately 6 ¼ by 4 ¾ inches. Pagination varies. The complete run of 21 bound volumes (including index volume) collecting the individual issues of Thomas B. Mosher's little magazine, 'The Bibelot.' These magazines would publish reprinted material from well-known authors and poets, both classical and at the time recent, such as Edgar Allan Poe, Sappho, Yeats, etc. aiming to introduce, as Mosher said, 'those exotics of literature that might not immediately find a way into wider reading.' His work sought to connect literature and formal design (see MacLeod, American Little Magazines of the 1890s for previous information). All in about VERY GOOD condition, with the exception of the index volume, which is in GOOD condition. Minor to moderate varying browning to the books, mostly along the extremities and spines, with minor scattered soiling and a few small spots of faint staining to some of the volumes. Interiors clean and solid, with many pages unopened. The index volume has moderate browning/fading to the front cover, with some minor staining, scuffing and foxing. Very Good/No Jacket.
