Description: New York, McLoughlin Bros. Publisher, 1888. Wraps. Color illustrated wraps. 10 3/4 by 8 3/8 inches. 16 pages, including covers. With 6 full page, chromoloithograph color illustrations. A retelling of this classic children's tale, accompanied by illustrations by Richard Andre, an alias for William Roger Snow, a British artist who practiced under various names due to personal scandals. Snow, forced to join the British Army due to the squandering of an inheritance, faced further troubles because of infidelity, and abandoned his wife, starting a career as an illustrator under an assumed name. POOR condition. Book DETACHED into several sections, with the front cover and first page each separated onto their own, and with the last page and rear cover separated but attached to each other. The intact sections are tenuous at best. A 3 inch triangle MISSING from the upper front corner of the cover. Minor soiling, fading and staining to the covers, with some creasing. Extremities scuffed and worn, with a few tears present. Interior with very minor soiling and browning, with illustrations remaining clean and bright. Some staining to the top of the second page (text), with a diagonal crease present to the pages corresponding with the missing triangle. Poor .
