On letterhead of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, Rickover tells a correspondent, "Thanks for the card and for your good wishes. I appreciate your thoughtfulness in writing to me," which he signs in blue ballpoint and pens "Best regards." The occasions was likely Rickover's being awarded in 1961 the first of three Navy Distinguished Service Medals. Nice example of this uncommon autograph. With original envelope. .
