Bit of faint binding wear, else internally tight and fine. First edition, tight and attractive, of this well-known study of archaeological explorations, mainly using aerial views, of villages mostly along the Rio Grande -- with relevant autograph addition: Tipped to front pastedown is a First Day Cover bearing one of the four of the 1977 "Pueblo Art" 13-cent stamps that depict hand-thrown pots, boldly signed across the stamp in black fineline by its designer, renowned Native American artist Ford Ruthling (1933-2015). 6½" X 3½, postally cancelled in Santa Fe, New Mexico on 13 April 1977 and with "First Day of Issue" so stamped. Affixed at upper right is the "Acoma" stamp; cachet at left is a color reproduction of a portrait of an Acoma woman by American artist Lyle Tayson (1924-2014), and Tayson signs in black ballpoint at bottom center. .
