This was the childhood copy of future U.S. Senator from Illinois Adlai E. Stevenson III (b. 1930) -- son of the two-term Illinois governor and twice presidential candidate. His large, boldly pencilled 7-year-old ownership siognature graces the inner flyleaf. .
