Binding a bit edgeworn and rubbed, though internally tight and sharp; nonauthorial gift inscription on front pastedown. A tight and nice first edition of Bulletin No. XIV of the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey, Economic Series No. 9. The partly-color 19" X 15" foldout "Geological Map of Grant, Iowa, and Lafayette Counties" is clean and handsome. The title-mentioned atlas is a separately published volume, not present here. Not by the OTHER U.S. Grant who lived in the adjacent northwest Illinois county (Jo Daviess), but by the noted Northwestern University geology professor surely named in his and William T. Sherman's honor. .
