Title: The Union, the CIVIL War, and John W. Tuttle: A Kentucky Captain's Account
Description: Frankfort, The Kentucky Historical Society, 1980. Hardcover. Edited by Hambleton Tapp and James C. Klotter. 8vo. Blue cloth with gilt lettering. xvi, 298pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Faint bit of edgewear. A nice first edition of this account by an officer with the Third Kentucky Infantry Regiment -- with interesting addition: Tipped to the inner flyleaf is an unsigned mimeographed form letter from co-editor Tapp, 1p, 8½" X 11", Louisville, KY, 1960. Very good. Original mailing folds. On "Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center" letterhead, Tapp (identified as Chairman of the Kentucky Civil War Centennial Commission) writes to "Members of the Civil War Centennial Commissions" and "Civil War Round Tables" outlining Civil War theme events to be held at the 1960 Kentucky State Fair. Tapp (1922-92) was a noted and prolific author and editor of Kentucky histories as well as chairman of the Kentucky Civil War Centennial Commission. .
