Title: Illustrations of Natural Grace and Symmetry Unspoiled by the Deforming Influences of Fashionable Dress
Description: N.p. N.p. n.y. Paperback. Small 8vo. Decorated wrappers. (20pp). Very good. Two edge chips on rear wrapper, else tight, clean and nice. Fascinating bibliographically challenged pamphlet with no text -- consisting simply of ten full-page captioned photographs (rectos only) depicting women of various nationalities in various dress (and undress!): "Venus de Milo," "Arabic Girls in Dancing Costume," "Young Woman of Central Africa," "Soudanese Girls," "A Congo Belle," "Daughters of an African King," "A Samoan Belle," "Young Samoan Gentleman in Full Dress," "Egyptian Dancing Girl" and believe it or not "Queen Louise." (How the Prussian royalty fits into this fashion show is a mystery.) This was one of two pamphlets (the other titled "Colored Plates for Ladies' Guide") inserted into the rear pocket of cornflake king J.H. Kellogg's book "The Ladies' Guide to Health and Disease," first published in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1892. This copy likely comes from a later printing of this work. .
