Partly-printed DS, 1p, 5½" X 8½", New York, NY, 1940 June 24. Addressed to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar). Near fine. On "New York Public Library" letterhead, this form letter (partly typed in) acknowledges and thanks a book gift to the library -- in this case Gates' privately published booklet "Amberglow of Abraham Lincoln and Ann Rutledge." Lydenberg's miniscule signature could easily be mistaken for printed, but is actually authentic and original. .
