Tchelitchew was a Russian emigree artist in NY at mid-century, who worked for the Ballets Russes, designing sets and costumes. He was a favourite of View magazine and worked in a style that was influenced by Surrealism. The high point of his career was this retrospective and the museum's acquisition of Hide-and-Seek, his most popular painting. Good.
