Hardcover quarto, 93pp., colour cartoons throughout. Upper page edges spotted; boards clean and firm; dustwrapper slightly creased at upper edge, some very small chips. Otherwise fine in like dustwrapper. Topping many people's list of the greatest comic-strip creations in history is the legendary Krazy Kat. Some people remember it from its heyday in the 1930s and 1940s. Some people recall its few reincarnations in books and animated cartoons - most them terrible, but with the greatness of the original surviving the slights. And many people simply take the word of cultural tradition that there was a cartoonist named George Herriman who drew this strange, magical, poetic, slapstick masterpiece that was like nothing before or since. So the saga of the Enchanted Mesa lives, at least in memory: Krazy Kat, Ignatz, Mouse, Offissa Pupp... and the Brick. But few people actually know the stunning color pages that comprise this legendary body of work. This anomaly ends with this series, which will reprint the complete run of the color Krazy Kat pages, appearing between 1935 and 1944. This collection, meticulously reproduced on heavy art paper, is introduced by comics historian and popular-culture critic Rick Marschall. Offered for AUD 52.50 = appr.
