These are the major divisions treated by Palmer: 30-320 and the faith of the early Church prior to legalization; 320-680 and the unity, corruption, abuses, and development of the Church; 680-1054 and superstitions, divisions between East and West; 1054-1517 and the progress of Christianity prior to the Reformation; 1517-1839 and the rise of post-Reformation Christianity, including special attention to British Christianity. .
