The book is in Very Good+ condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light bumping, ubbing and beginning fraying. The spine and front cover have gilt lettering and decorations. The text pages are clean and bright. The foredge and bottom edge of the text block are uncut. There is a previous owner's bookplate on the front endpaper (Nicholas O. Broughton) . Illustrated with 20 black and white plates by G. Spenser Pryse. "Henry Fielding (22 April 1707 – 8 October 1754) was an English novelist and dramatist known for his rich, earthy humour and satirical prowess, and as the author of the picaresque novel Tom Jones. Additionally, he holds a significant place in the history of law enforcement, having used his authority as a magistrate to found (with his half-brother John) what some have called London's first police force, the Bow Street Runners. His younger sister, Sarah, also became a successful writer. ". Very Good+ .
