B&W Illustrations; Three volumes of Oink, a journal of poetry -- each issue is limited to 100 unnumbered copies. Included are volumes 1, 2 & 4. All three are in Very Good+ to Near Fine- condition and were issued without dust jackets. The pamphlets and their contents are in clean, bright condition. There is a bit of toning to the covers of the first two booklets. The text pages are clean and bright. The illustrations throughout are by Evelyn Westermann, the girlfriend of Dean Faulwell. All three authors / editors of this poetry journal were students at the Program for Writers at the University of Illinois (The program would later become an M.A. program.) "It was in Nims’ poetry workshop that theOINK!editors first met.In the midst of his lecture arguing that speech is organically expressiveof traditional form, a student loudly stage-whispered, “What an asshole!”The class was suddenly in revolt, like everything else at that time." Considering themselves Beat Poets, the three authors continued to work together through Oink Press over a period of several years during the 1970's. "The idea for this journal grew out of a remark by Paul Carroll, who was once heard to say: Dean Faulwell and James Leonard, along with a third party to be decided upon later, are well on their way to founding the Male Chauvinist Pig School of American Poetry".".
