M. Penzer. Introduction by Sir Percy Sykes. Chardin was the most distinguished European to be attracted to the Persian court. His first book was published in 1686, describing the people, customs, cities and terrain. This book selects from several of his books to give a clear and perceptive picture of Persia at that time. Wood p. 287: ""A reprint of the practically unkown two volume English edition of 1720. The portion relating to tame and wild birds will be found in chapter IX."".
