Description: 0. Rebacked, case binding.new buckram spine and new boards. Book, London : Ingram, Cooke, 1852 xvi, 425 p. [11] leaves of plates Numerous text vignettes. : ill. ports. ; 23 cm. Cited In Ferguson, J.A. Australia, 15679 preserving original maroon boards with a coat-of-arms showing a kangaroo, emu and the Eureka cross, boards are rubbed and bumped but still good, internally very good. Professionally rebacked with gilt titling. "The Three Colonies of Australia was published in London in September 1852. More than 5000 copies were sold in the first year, and by 1854 German and American editions were in print. The book is of considerable importance, both for its anti-Wakefield attitudes and for its outspoken 'pro-Australian' sentiments. Like Wakefield, Sidney never set foot in Australia, though he was very well informed about the colony's affairs" ADB All of our books are in the shop, and are 'real' books.
