Description: Leiden, Joh. Arnold. Langerak, 1727, 4to., full parchment spitsel binding with (faded) handwritten title on spine and red sprinkled edges, [42]+373+[10]+[58]+335+[21]pp., smudged parchment, new endpapers added, original endpapers are ruffled exposing some of the construction, bookblock in good condition with only minor stains and some notes in pencil, also some endearing ownership notes. From the collection of Jelle Kaspersma and Alie Vinke. The book was given to J. Kasperma by his grandmother in 1962: "J. Kasperma, in 1962 gekregen van beppe Klaske". Kaspersma was 14 years old at the time. In the back of the book he added his own note, in ink he had made himself with a reference to the weather and the start of his summer vacation: "8 juli 1962, 14 jaar oud, geschreven met zelfgekookte inkt. Weer: zonnig, weinig bewolking, zwakke tot matige zuidwestenwind, grootte vacantie begonnen de 27 juny, eindigt de 6e sept. J. Kaspersma. Staveren, aant. inwoners 1 jan. 1962 912." There is also a Frisian poem in pencil written in the margin of the preface in the second part of the book. With decorative initials and some head- and tailpieces. l Dutch translation from German by Laurentius Steversloot, in two parts.
