Fore and top edges uncut, coloured endpapers with neat contemporary name and prize inscription dated 1899. A very small corner piece of the front endpaper is missing. Internally it is very clean, tight and unmarked with light foxing to fore edge. One Hundred and Eightieth Thousand. A well preserved copy of this popular Victorian novel by the famous novelist Ellen Wood (1814-1887) first published in 1862. A man takes responsibility for a theft he believes his brother has committed. His brother is really innocent of the crime, and the real culprit is later caught. 11. Very Good/No Jacket.
