Red & white checkerboard patterned cloth in diagonal pattern, blue & red title lettering on white panel on spine & front cover, 20 numbered chapter index tabs plus general index, chapters numbered separately. The outer cloth on the front hinge is broken and somewhat frayed but the inner hinge is quite firm, corners tips are rubbed through to boards, the first three introductory leaves are somewhat ragged at the bottom corner, balance of pages are quite intact and all appear present. This copy was obviously a favorite in the kitchen but still has lots of service life left. The one recipe book that is a must have basic staple for any kitchen. Comprehensive, informative, easy to use with good, solid comfort foods and handy reference material. Richly illustrated throughout. Good.
