"The text of this edition reproduces the text of 1740." White dust jacket with engravings of portraits front & back; the front being a portrait of the actress Silvia (1700-1758) by F. de Troy (from the collection of the Duke of Portland), and the back being a portrait of Marivaux by J. B. Van Loo. A well cared for copy lacking the front free endpaper, bright, square, sharp corners, edges faded, crisp, clean text very lightly tanned. Dust jacket has a small chip at spine top, a small closed tear on front bottom edge & back top edge, protected in a new Gaylord archival clear plastic cover (removable). Very Good/Very Good.
