Annually published dutch language illustrated magazine in which the dutch public is informed about hitherto less known parts of the Globe, indigenous population, cultre, manners and customs, religion (Islam), local antiquities and architecture, including reports of discoveries and voyages through Asia (including the Dutch East Indies, China and Japan), Africa (including Algeria, Morocco and Tunesia), Asia Minor (Turkey), the Middle East (Palestinia, Libiya) and the more remote parts of Europe. The magazine can be seen as a pastiche of the french equivalent, Le Tour du Monde. TOPICS: A tour through Java, Dutch East Indies; Voyage through the Moorish part of Spain with illustrations by GUSTAVE DORÉ; Willem Barentszoon and Krushenstern, shipwrecked in the North Arctic seas; Through the Algerian part of the Sahara; a Peek at Tunesia; travels through China; The Holy Land or Palestinia, etc. Good copy in original publ. cloth.
