Description: S.I., Nederlandse Rode Kruis, [circa]], 1950. Original commemmorative medal issued by Dutch Red Cross Headquarters installed 31 March 1950. Coloured metal cross, date in centre 1940-1945, size 41x41mm. with original bi-coloured ribbon. SCAN AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. This commemmorative cross, 1940-1945 has been awarded to [dutch] civilians honouring their outstanding human aid to refugees and displaced persons caused by the german nazi attack on the Netherlands 1940, the occupation of Holland 1940-1945 and the period of liberation. The medal has been installed 31 March 1950 and was the successor of the one installed in 1942, covering the period 1939-1940. After the end of the dutch-indonesian [armed] dispute 1945-1950 a bar was issued commemmorating this period, inscribed :INDONESIË 1945-1950. According to records some 10.700 crosses have been awarded, of which approx. 1.200 with the bar. In very fine condion.
