AUTHOR SIGNED PRESENTATION COPY, Probably the most thorough, if not the only, art-historical treatment of the depiction of Adam and Eve. 105 illustrations. decorated cloth boards lightly dust / handling soiled, some light spotting of foxing to the cloth and has a rubber stamp to upper board "Architekt Max Neumann Munchen 1912" top edge gilt, front hinge partially split at ends, top corner of half title torn off, architects rubber stamp repeated twice to fep with a withdrawn stamp over this, the reverse side (facing title) has a nice India ink inscription, partially missing where the corner removed, but it is a presentation to Max Neumann dated 11 November 1903 and signed by Josef Kirchner, xvi 284pp + 20pp publisher's adverts at rear including ethnographic photography books Erste umfassende Untersuchung der Adam und Eva in der Kunst. - mit einem Vorowrt des Verfassers und 105 in den Text gedruckten Abbildungen, Minimal fleckig, sonst sehr gut erhalten, Autor unterzeichnete Darstellung.
