Selous. quarter red leather over marbled boards, leather perished and rubbed LACKS upper board and prelims, starts with pp xv, has 2pp of The Author's Apology, then starts with page 1 of the story proper, ( xv-xvi, 1-224, i-viii, 225-400pp) part 1 & 2 of the story, with another Author's Apology before the commencement of the second part, backstrip is perished and pulling away, has lost bottom fifth, first leaf chipped to edges, all edges gilt, generally Good or better to the rest of the pages, pages all have decorative border, and where footnotes to the text are given they are in double column, many engrvaed illustrations, some full page, by M. Paoli Prioli & H. C. Selous, probably from the early 1880s, but unsure as lacks title etc, will need a rebind ( or at least a board for the front), still nice illustrated edition of a classic. Fair/No Jacket.
