There is a detailed coverage of important subjects like the Second Mysore War, dealings with the Marathas in Central and Western India, Oudh affairs, insurrection of Raja Chait Singh, etc. Incidents such as the Anglio-French naval skirmishes in the Bay of Bengal, destruction of Haidar Ali's fleet by E. Hughes, occupation of the Dutch settlements in India by the Company in consequence of the rupture between Great Britain and Holland, taking over of the Guntur Sarkar by the Nizam, etc, also figure in the correspondence" - from preface.
