Auctoritate Recognita...two Volumes Bound As One Venice, Italy: Typographio Remondiniano, 1758. Hardcover. Full vellum binding, title in dark ink at top of spine; ex-library copy, with library ownership label at bottom of spine, with accession number stamped on title page and first text page, and with library name stamped on title page. Vellum binding is very foxed and rubbed on its faces, and is split at the spine edge of its front cover; front cover is held in place by the three vellum-like cords that tie the binding and page block together. Binding edges are rubbed, so that underlying boards are showing in places, and vellum of spine is split and peeling back in three places. There is a separation at front endpapers, and a 3" chip at the botttom of the front free endpaper has been filled in with rice paper, which has foxed more than the surrounding rag paper. All pages are lightly foxed, especially at their extreme margins, and there are occasional marginal finger smudges. It will cost more than the standard rate to ship this large book, especially by Priority Mail or to places outside the U. S. ; Old and New Testaments translated into Latin; two volumes with double-columned pages, bound into one folio-size volume. Nice print job on rag paper.
