Two volumes, folio and octavo, the folio in colour throughout, bound by Smith Settle of Otley in full green goatskin over bevelled boards, decorated and gilt, with coloured onlay, all edges gilt, the octavo in cloth-backed papered boards, the two volumes housed together in a fitted cloth book box, in fine state. ¶ Fine facsimile of the first surviving manuscript of its type, dating from circa 1300 in southern Italy, in which information about plants and their medical uses, inherited from Greek, Roman and Arabic sources, is combined with paintings of the plants. Limited edition of 1000 numbered copies.
