Hardcover. no dj (spine sunned); Taped to front endpaper is a signed letter from Terhune to the previous owner. The letter is on the stationery of "The Sunnybank Collie Kennels", with Terhune listed at the top as the owner, and with 2 photos, Ch. Sunnybank Sigurd, and Sunnybank Lad, with the quote between them To Win without Boasting; To Lose without Excuses." The letter, dated June 22, 1936, thanks the recipient for a picture of a horse's head that she drew and sent to Terhune (one assumes the recipient is a young child), and tells her that if she wants to see photos of Sunnybank, she should buy thisbook! He wishes her a happy summer in England, telling her "The Mistress and I...like it better than any place except Sunnybank! Very Sincerely Yours, Albert Payson Terhune". This book is exceptionally rare, as is Terhune's signature. The Boards have some sunning, especially on the spine, and the endpapers are lightly foxed, with the previous owner's inscription on the front e.p.'s.
