El tercer tomo comprende las 'Observations on the zodiacal light, from April 2, 1853 to April 22, 1855', con 352 ílustraciones. Hawks. 3 volúmes, with 116+352 drawings, 17 maps (16 folded) y 16 diagrams. It is a trip of historical importance, the statement that is done of it is very complete. It meant the opening of Japan to West and the beginning of his modernization. The whole second volume is dedicated to the natural history, with beautiful illustrations of mammals, birds, shells and fish (realized for J. Wilson, J.C. Jay, Asa Gray and Cassin). Covers restored.
